Jean Enriquez is the Executive Director of Coalition Against Trafficking in Women - Asia-Pacific or CATWAP. CATWAP is an international network that is made out of feminist groups who are against the sexual exploitation of women and human trafficking in the whole world. Examples of this sexual exploitation are prostitution and trafficking. The CATWAP is against prostitution, pornography, sex tourism and bride selling. She herself was also a victim of rape in college and she got pregnant in the age of 20. That's why she was able to relate and she knew what she was fighting for because she herself was able to experience this abuse.

I can say that Jean Enriquez is a true hero in this modern time because in this time, crimes like these are very used by very abusive people. I am glad that there are still people like Jean Enriquez who still fights for the rights of these people. For 28 years she helped and served those peoples who are abused, this is why many Filipinos including me are very amused by her desire to proof her advocacy. She wasn't even angry to men, she even wanted to help them and change the system that abused women and men as well. In-fact she was able to speak on these issue in many countries. Her experience in her work made her internationally recognized, she was invited by many countries to speak about her anti trafficking activities she led, one of them is the “Addressing the Demand Side of Trafficking Project” for young men. Besides these she had done many help to the affected people, she also had many achievements and awards as well such as: being one of the Top Ten Women of the world for 2007 by Marie Clarie Magazine, in her home town she was able to receive the Award of Excellence because of her help not only in her province but also in other places as well and last 2 years ago she was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Women in the Nation's Service or TOWNS.

Jean Enriquez also educated men that has done abuse such as rape, domestic violence and buying women. She even said that in a matter of 3 days these men can change, not fully, but it will really help them to start changing, change there lives and even change there point of view. As shown, Jean Enriquez is a very remarkable woman, she helped many people and she helped the abusive people as well. She did not hate, instead she was still able to care and to change the lives of these abusive people. In fact I think she did not only do these, but she still did many more help for our people. A true hero is somehow like this although there are many people who have different advocacy these days, Jean Enriquez's advocacy really caught my attention because I saw that she fights for all of us, anyone can be a victim of human trafficking, rape or any sexual harassment, she is helping us so that we would not feel how she felt when she was still college and I guess a true hero will also do the same. A true hero cares for his/her country or nation, they fight and they want to change the world to become a better place to live in. I guess Jean Enriquez showed this kind heroism to change and to lessen this major abuses to us and even help the ones who abused to change. Jean Enriquez for me is a really remarkable woman of our time, she doesn't care only for herself but cares all of us in the world.
This picture is taken at the TOWNS 2010 where you can see Jean Enriquez receiving the award for human rights, she is the woman with a pure red gown.

It is truly remarkable how a woman such as Jean Enriquez can turn a bad thing that happened to her to the benefit of our country. This kind of attitude and ability is what we all need in the Philippines especially with our country being bombarded with disasters. She is truly an example for us Filipinos. :D

It is very enlightening to stick to our minds that not all officials are greedy.

Some of them really want to mold our country for better uses.

I believe that this woman is a good example and that other politicians should follow her footsteps because through this our country will REALLY be changed for the better.

Very well written essay! She is an inspiration to Filipinas out there.. Shows us that men aren't the only heroes.. that heroes are chosen not because of sex or gender, but because of sacrifice!
